I thought that you might like to see some of the feedback we get to the agricultural stories featured in the comics and on the radio. ShujaazFM interacts with young people very effectively - especially through Facebook which is completely free to use in Kenya.

I really liked this message sent by Daniel from Nanyuki wrote to DJ Bowie to say:
"Hi DJ B!

I am writing to tell you about an idea of yours, which I tried.

Well, I like all your ideas, but the one about chicken pens is the one I like most. I started with 2 chicken and 1 duck. 1 chicken laid eggs, but she was later eaten by a cat. The 2nd chicken kept breaking her eggs with her beak. The duck also laid eggs but was later eaten by a dog.

But am grateful to you DJ B, because I got the idea about building a chicken pen from you. I also fenced them in using barbed wire. From then, I made several observations, and later decisions:

  • I trimmed the beak of the chicken that broke her eggs.
  • I take better care of them with regards to food and medication.

Now, I have 9 chicken [+chicks], 4 ducks [+chicks].

They are well protected.

I owe my success to you and your comic. Keep on advising the youth, we support you fully. God bless you my man".
So that's 13 birds and their chicks that owe their existence to Shujaaz. 13 Chaptas (issues) of Shujaaz have offered advice on crops, livestock, fish farming and pest control. And there are thousands of guys and girls like Daniel tackling financial and food security issues as a result of Shujaaz.
